I was born and raised in the Lawrence area attending Lawrence Public Schools. I have two sons who are in college; Cam is studying to be a metallurgist at Missouri Science and Technology in Rolla, Missouri, and Dillon is at Johnson County Community College studying to be a computer programmer. I have been married for 24 years to my husband Mike. I enjoy traveling and family genealogy in my spare time.
From 1982 to 2000, I was a Administrative Assistant and assisted my father start a residential program for individuals with developmental disabilities, serving adults who had been moved to the community due to the closures of state institutions. In the past I have been employed as a counselor for the State of Missouri serving parents of children birth to 3 who had developmental disabilities. In 2001-2009, I worked as a School Counselor serving students from Preschool to 12th Grade. In July of 2011 I received my Professional Counselor license. I continue to attend college and trainings to stay up to date with current information. I am also qualified to do psychological testing.
I have a Master of Science degree in Counseling and Psychological Testing from Missouri Baptist University, a Master of Science degree in Special Education from the University of Kansas. In my undergraduate studies I obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Human Development at the University of Kansas. I also have a Accounting degree from Allen County Community College.
